The local Northcott National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) champion organised a community day at the Church Street rotunda on Friday to mark IDPwD, which is officially on Saturday, December 3.
The day aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability, and celebrate their achievements and contributions.
Local services providers, from headspace Dubbo and Marathon Health to Northcott and the Department of Family and Community Services, were on hand to showcase the different services available.
“Today’s about raising awareness about inclusion,” Mr Jones said.
“One of the main reasons I wanted a lot of services here is to highlight the different opportunities.
“We have people here that specialise in mental health right through to employment.”
