When Michael Chabon won the Pulitzer Prize in 2001 he gave himself the freedom to write as he pleased. "That was completely how I interpreted it," says Chabon, still pinching himself 15 years later. "This is your Double O, you know, this is licence to kill, and you can go do whatever you want."
