After some inconsistent performances early in her career, trainer Paul O’Brien opted to put her up in distance and the move has worked a treat, with three wins and a second recorded from five starts over 500m.
The third of those wins came at Dawson Park on Thursday, with Just Like Jazz ($5.10) winning a heat of the Dubbo To Wenty series by a length from Queen Taro ($3) and Billy Keeping ($3.40).
“Since she’s gone over long distances she’s been doing really well,” O’Brien’s son Dylan said.
“She wasn’t doing much when we first sent her out but she’s turned the corner and things are looking good.
“She needs to be on the bunny to be anything special but it was a good, strong win. She didn’t lead like I thought she would so we were impressed.” O’Brien added fitness needs to improve if she is to be a threat in the city.
