By the next morning, Ms Roberts was dead.
On Thursday, her boyfriend, Jordan Duffy, 19, pleaded guilty to supplying the drug Ms Robert allegedly ingested before her death.
Mr Duffy, a bartender from Wamberal on the state's central coast, did not appear at Newtown Local Court where his lawyer formally entered a plea of guilty on his behalf.
Police say Mr Duffy and Ms Roberts were partying at the Petersham Inn on June 4 when Mr Duffy gave his partner MDMA.
The next morning, the pair were at a house in Addison Road, Marrickville, when Ms Roberts fell ill.
Paramedics were called at 8.35am but, by the time they arrived, Ms Roberts had died.
At the time of her death friends remembered Ms Roberts, a former Mackellar Girls School student, for her infectious laugh.
"I'll always remember you and that bloody laugh lol think everyone will never forget that laugh haha," friend Latesha Ah-Kam Leo wrote on Facebook.
"You're now in good hands with our Heavenly Father. Rest in peace Jainie Panton."
Ms Roberts' uncle wrote: "I cannot reach you, but my wishes and prayers shall always touch you and keep you blessed and protected.
"You were loved before; We love you now; and we will love you always."
Mr Duffy is next expected to appear before Newtown Local Court in December.
