Chief executive officer of RiverSmart, Dr Bill Phillips, said it would also look to re-introduce “movies indoors as well”.
“Warren hasn’t had an indoor cinema for some time,” he said on Wednesday.
“If the weather is inclement we can move indoors to the Warren Sporting and Cultural Centre less than a kilometre away.”
The WOW project began in September 2014 with the moving of an old church to the edge of town near the Tiger Bay Wetlands.
Across the past two years the state government has pumped about $113,000 into the centre.
Dr Phillips said “very supportive” Warren and fundraising had provided up to $60,000.
The latest state government grant will also go towards a second verandah on the centre and the erection of signage.
“We can't thank the NSW government enough for this, and previous support, for this ambitious project to develop an education, recreation and cultural centre,” Dr Phillips said.
“Into the future we see the centre as a key gateway to the iconic Macquarie Marshes which will also help generate jobs and boost for local businesses.”
Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries said RiverSmart had been instrumental in establishing a “fantastic tourist attraction” for Warren.
“This project is also helping to incubate new businesses while rehabilitating, preserving and showcasing the unique qualities of wetlands and promoting Macquarie River Trails from Burrendong Dam to the Macquarie Marshes,” he said.
Parliamentary secretary for Western NSW Sarah Mitchell said support for the centre was important for the “whole town”.
“Once complete, Warren’s Window on the Wetlands Centre will serve as an inspirational education and training facility, plus a community space that features cultural heritage displays and information for visitors and the whole community,” she said.
