Something Borrowed, whose last preparation featured a run in the $400,000 Country Championship Final, has had two starts back this preparation and on Saturday will head to Rosehill for the country-based 2000m feature.

“It’s a lovely race and it fell in nicely with him because last start he was looking for a bit more ground,” Stanley said.

“He’s definitely in the race and he’s in it for a reason.”

Something Borrowed enjoyed a nine-week break midway through the year and returned for a second-placed finish in the Dubbo Gold Cup before a third in the Coonamble Cup.

Stanley was impressed by those runs and said the quality Something Borrowed was up against there is comparable to Saturday’s field.

A win on Saturday would take Something Borrowed’s career earnings past the $150,000 mark and Stanley said he was a pleasure to work with, and a horse who travels brilliantly.

That will be a big positive at the Sydney track on Saturday and despite drawing barrier 13, Stanley has full confidence in his chance and also jockey Mathew Cahill.

“We’ll see how he jumps but he’ll probably run in midfield and he’ll be winding up in the straight,” he said, before speaking about the chance to race for riches in Sydney. “It’s unbelievable and really, really good for country trainers.”
