It means they will be able to join thousands of dancers in real time as they go through the moves of their routines for the first time as a combined dance troupe.
The massed rehearsal is an important milestone on the Schools Spectacular calendar as it marks the build-up in momentum of the countdown to the stadium performances on Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26.
Dance groups from NSW public schools all over Sydney and some rural areas of NSW will unite at QUDOS Arena in Sydney’s Olympic Park to learn the finale of this extravaganza in preparation for their official Guinness World Record attempt in November this year.
Dancers will be part of various performance groups including the Aboriginal Dance Ensemble, D’Arts Dance Ensemble, Boys and Girls Hip Hop Ensembles, Music Theatre Ensemble, Tap and Percussion Ensemble, Ballet Ensemble, Contemporary Dance Ensemble and Jazz Ensembles.
Cobar High School, Inverell High School, Leeton Public School and Mulyan Public School will join the significant event.
It is the first time in the Schools Spectacular’s 33-year history that it has been staged other than at the former Sydney Entertainment Centre (which has been demolished to make way for the revamp of the Darling Harbour precinct).
The expansive new home at QUDOS Arena in Olympic Park not only brings the iconic extravaganza closer to the heart of Sydney, but it has enabled an even bigger, more exciting show.
In excess of 5000 students from more 500 public schools from across the state will be part of this year’s show.
They will include a 2700-strong choir; 2300 diverse dancers; an 80-piece symphony orchestra; a world-class stage band; and a huge number of outstanding solo performers.
