The competition has been running for eight weeks, with four teams of social players enjoying a bat and a bowl, with the modified rules a bonus for the players new to the sport.
As part of the competition, SportsWorld has committed to donating a portion of the game fees each week to the McGrath Foundation, and have so far raised $525 to assist nurses in the Dubbo community.
Typhoons have so far been the team to beat, racing to the top of the ladder, with Grace Larance and Ellouise Keough stand out players.
Salvos recorded a win last week, much to the pleasure of the teams youngster Josh Lincoln-Bruce.
Kingo’s have a few new players in their side, but are improving all the time. Kathy Hyde batted with SportsWorld proprietor Greg King last week, and managed a pair score of 47!
The current competition has a few more weeks to go, before a new one will start, with competition organisers looking to add a few more teams to the competition.
In other exciting news, particularly for the female cricketers, Dubbo SportsWorld played host to the first ever High School Girls Milo T20 Blast Cricket Gala Day this week, with players new and current enjoying the fast-paced version of the game that is indoor cricket.
Cricket NSW Development Officer for the Far West Region, Matt Ellis, was delighted with the day, saying he was pleased to see so many girls participating.
The day started with a skills clinic involving bowling, catching, throwing and batting before the seven teams played a round robin series that saw each team play six games.
The improvements made over the day by all teams and players was noticeable for Ellis as well as teachers and other spectators. Equally impressive was the attitude and enthusiasm the girls had for learning new skills and adapting them into game scenarios.
Delroy 1 were the eventual winners of the day, going through the day undefeated. To make the feat more impressive was the fact that none of the girls had played a formal game of cricket before.
