Dubbo Regional Council has narrowed down the selection for play equipment to two options and a poll will be run on council’s website until November 13 for the final decision.
Council manager horticultural services Ben Pilon said a paper-based poll would also be run in schools around Lunar Park and Apollo House.
The replacement of the play equipment is part of a larger upgrade of Lunar Park.
“Council was successful in gaining funding as part of the Social Housing Community Improvement Fund which council also matched giving an overall funding total of $100,000,” Mr Pilon said.
As part of the funding agreement, council consulted with Apollo House on the designs, he said.
“After consultation with Aboriginal Elder Frank Doolan it was decided to install an Aboriginal meeting place around the existing steel structure in Lunar Park. This will include a semi-circled mounded grass area with seating which will create a meeting place for the community which can be used for all occasions.”
“Solar lighting will be installed within the park to improve visibility in the park and surrounding streets.”
Mr Pilon said council would also use the play equipment poll to ask residents what else they would like to see in the park.
A family pass for the Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre is up for grabs for one lucky person who completes the poll.
