Teagan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in November 2015 and team captain Michelle Godwin said they were motivated by the opportunity to bring hope and support to the Ferguson family.
Team Teagan is one of 47 teams that has nominated so far for the the 2016 event, which will run for 18 hours starting on Saturday, November 5.
The Fergusons have had to split their time between Teagan’s treatment in Sydney and looking after their other children, Teagan’s mother Susanne said.
“My daughter and I have spent 11 months in Westmead Hospital in Sydney living away from home while my husband has been living in Dubbo looking after our other four girls,” she said.
“Over the last 11 months we have got to meet a lot of beautiful children and their families who are all fighting similar battles. Sadly, we have seen some of these children lose their battles to cancer.
“I am looking forward to the Relay because it will be a time for us to celebrate finally being allowed to come home and catch up with our family and friends.”
Team Teagan’s theme for the Orana Relay For Life 2016 will be cows, because it is Teagan’s favourite animal and she enjoys parading cattle with St John’s College at various shows.
Team Teagan wants to share a positive attitude and message of hopes as they believe that miracles do happen as long as you keep smiling, never give up and always stay positive.
They were hoping to raise $1000 in support of those affected by Cancer and were encouraging the Orana community to get behind them and support their team.
