The Human Society and its Environment (HSIE) teacher, who anxiously waited outside for his class, said his students were well prepared for their exam.
"I haven't seen the paper yet but from what I understand the questions were pretty fair and they should have performed quite well," he said.
Student Harriet French was relieved to be finished but felt reasonably confident with her effort.
"It wasn't too bad, I guess the questions were expected," she said.
"We were lucky we had a great teacher so we were well prepared for it.
"A couple of questions weren't the ones I wanted but that's OK."
Harriet said she would like to pursue a career in archaeology and will be taking her interest in ancient cultures into future study.
Taneille McGaw said she was happy with the exam.
"Some of our long response questions and multiple choice were really good, so I'm hoping I did well," she said.
"The exam fitted to what we had done during the year."
Taneille said it had been an enjoyable year and the class had been a great combination of students.
She has two more exams, Art and Design and Technology, on the last day of the HSC.
