Lanterns can be purchased at the DREAM twilight markets at Victoria Park on Saturday night with three different colours holding different meanings.
Gold lanterns are to remember a loved one, white is for people who have had blood cancer and blue is for people to show they care.
Approximately 30,000 people across Australia will take part in Light the Night, which is organised by the Leukaemia Foundation.
The DREAM twilight markets begin at 4pm with the lantern parade to begin at approximately 7.45pm, when it is dark enough. Marshalling for the lantern parade starts at 7pm at Macquarie Regional Library.
