DUBBO’S Jane Fardell has finished third in her division of the Kona Ironman in Hawaii on Sunday.

Fardell was contesting the women’s 35-39 years division of the event, which incorporates a gruelling 3.86km swim with a 180km bike ride and a 42.2km run leg around the difficult lava fields.
She finished the event in a time of 10:12:35, which as well as placing her third in her division gave her an overall ranking of 578th.
Her swim leg was completed in a time of 1:01.39, the bike leg took 5:40.50 and the marathon run leg was run in 3:24.43.
Robert Duffy was also competing in Kona but at the time of going to press his overall time had not been confirmed.
Defending champions Daniela Ryf (womens) and Jan Frodeno (mens) took out their respective events once again.
Ryf completed the course in 8:46:46 while Frodeno led home a German trifecta, finishing in a time of 8:06.30.
