Telstra chief executive Andy Penn is the October guest speaker as part of the Dubbo Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s ASX200 CEO Series breakfasts.
Dubbo Chamber of Commerce president Matt Wright said he was excited to hear Penn’s thoughts on Dubbo and what the recently switched on National Broadband Network could do for the city.
“The CEO series has been a major coup for Dubbo and Andy Penn is someone we think a lot of businesses will be interested in hearing from,” Mr Wright said.
“I’m really curious to get his thoughts as an outsider looking in on what the NBN can do for Dubbo. I was talking to someone from the nbn who was saying Armidale have been promoting what the NBN can do for them and Dubbo has a similar opportunity.”
Mr Penn moved into the role of Telstra CEO in May 2015, replacing David Thodey.
He had previously served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer and Group Executive International.
Mr Wright said he was confident the business community would benefit from hearing what Mr Penn had to say.
“Everyone has experience with telecommunication companies so to get to hear from the CEO of Australia’s biggest is a great opportunity,” he said.
The CEO Series Breakfasts have been a bimonthly event for the chamber since last year and has seen leaders from Woolworths, Tabcorp, Fairfax and Bega Cheese visit the city.
There is one final event for the year in December, with JB Hi-Fi CEO Richard Murray.
“That will be another exciting breakfast. JB Hi-Fi have been very selective in the cities that they invest in and the Dubbo store is one of the largest in the country.”
The Dubbo Chamber’s CEO breakfast takes place at 7am on Wednesday at Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
