As the name suggests, Aboriginal Model Search is focused on finding Indigenous models to join the fashion industry
Auditions were recently held in Dubbo where one junior and two seniors were chosen to compete in this weekend’s finals in Sydney.
Mother Corina Triplett said she submitted an application for Brittney online, and was invited to the auditions.
“I didn’t expect Brittany to win it is was just something for her to do and have a bit of fun,” Ms Triplett said.
“It was just out of the blue. I thought I’d put her in it and see how it goes.”
Ms Triplett said she cried when she heard 10-year-old Brittney had made the finals.
Now, the Tripletts are off to Sydney where Brittney will have a photoshoot and meet with modelling agencies, before she walks the runway in an evening dress and a traditional Aboriginal outfit.
Whether or not Brittney becomes a professional model is now in the hands of the agents, Ms Triplett said.
The national final will be held at Rydges Sydney on October 1.
