The South-Korean born singer will perform at the Dubbo RSL Memorial Club on Saturday, October 8, and said she can’t wait to share her journey with Dubbo fans.
“A lot of people have been following me since the beginning and it's been three years and I think I've come a long way,” she told the Daily Liberal.
“So I'd like to meet all my supporters and share my journey with them and connect with them and it's a great feeling to be able to meet and fantastic after the show as well to sign my albums.”
Im also can’t wait for Dubbo to hear material from her latest offering – Classic Carpenters.
The “really well-written, beautiful masterpieces” have played a special part in Im’s journey – the songs she grew up with featured in her first paid gigs.
And while she has relished her opportunities to play to massive audiences in the years since, she said smaller crowds allow a more intimate connection.
“More intimate venues are sometimes nicer because I feel like I can really connect with the people in the room and me,” she said.
“Every venue is so different so I kind of don't know what the audience is going to be like so I get excited about finding that out.
“I've done about 20 shows so far and the regional ones I feel the people they appreciate you being there a bit more and you can feel that.”
Im has become a household name in Australia, earning multi-platinum status for her singles Alive, Super Love and Gladiator as well as her self-titled debut album.
She shot to international fame after representing Australia at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, where her song Sound of Silence ran second.
“I never imagined that I’d be representing Australia at the biggest music event in the world,” she said.
“No one knew that Australia could be competing at Eurovision and coming second and my song charting all over the world [was fantastic].
"It's been three years now and it's...I get to do what I love and sing and perform and release albums and I've made so many wonderful memories so far.”
But did performing for hundreds of millions of television viewers prepare her for the thrill of performing at Dubbo?
“Haha, definitely!” she laughed.
