Winter took out the Dubbo Demons’ Best and Fairest for the 2016 season at the club’s presentation night on Friday at the South Dubbo Tavern.
It comes just a week after being named as the runner up for the Best and Fairest in the Central West AFL.
The Dubbo mid-fielder has been with the Demons women’s team since its inception two years ago and has watched the game grow within the Central West.
Jono Naden was named Best and Fairest for the men’s grade.
Naden joined the Demons this year from Broken Hill and is set to form a key part of the Demons’ success in the 2017 season.
Club president Nick Lowther said he believed the Demons are showing great potential for the 2017 season in both the men’s and women’s grades, with a stronger playing roster and the changes to the league, which this year became a one-tier competition.
It shows how strong AFL is growing in Dubbo.
- Nick Lowther
“Both of our grades made the finals this year,” Lowther said.
“We nearly saw an all-NSW AFL grand final this year. It shows how strong AFL is growing in Dubbo and New South Wales alongside the powerhouse codes of league and union.”
