To fill their orders and honour commitments JBS also source grainfed cattle from their other feed yards at Caroona and Mungindi.
The dedication of staff and the quality of the cattle processed under the pressure of these huge numbers is an indication of the efficiency of this side of our industry.
Output is equivalent to 1.2 million meat portions per day.
Narromine Store Sheep Selling Association held their monthly sale on Wednesday, September 21 under very wet and overcast conditions.
A crowd braved the conditions to witness 8500 to 900 head go under the hammer.
The bulk of the offering comprised of 101 cross ewes which met with solid competition.
Having said that the general consensus appeared to be that the ewes were not making quiet enough money.
Successful purchases were from a wide area including Cowra, Crookwell, Merrygoen, Bathurst, Dubbo, Blayney, Orange, Cootamundra, Trangie, Naracoorte SA, alongside strong local support.

A/c Annersleigh P’Ship (selling three lines) 1st cross ewes, July/Aug 2015 drop. August shorn NSM $198 to $220. The balance of the older 1st cross ewes sols in the range of $170 to $210.
A/c P and P Cullen 1st cross ewes Feb/Mar 2016 drop, August shorn $154.
The column has been advised that the Troy saleyards have been booked for the next goal sale on Tuesday, October 25.
All vendors are reminded to book their stock in early with their preferred agent to facilitate the required advertising.
With the sale commencing at 11am all goats are requested to be at the complex by 9:30am and must be accompanied by their respective pic numbers and a national vendor declaration form.
Following another wet week Dubbo only managed to scan 1703 head of prime cattle for their sale on Thursday, September 22. Agents are now expecting a spike in numbers for both sheep and cattle yardings once the roads dry out.
Vendors are also reminded that Monday, October 3 is a public holiday and there are no sales.
Well known New England agent and race caller Brian Baldwin (OAM) who recently turned 80 years of age has decided that the time is right to discontinue his life time commitment to the difficult act of the race caller.
Brian was due to call his last meeting at Barraba on Saturday, September 24.
Unfortunately due to the ongoing wet weather this major event in the town has been called off.
The president Mr Leon Cummins, another well known agent from that part of the state, is busily looking to secure another date.
