This year’s Tread Safely Week runs from September 5 to 11, and the organisations are using it to educate drivers on the important role tyres and tread depth play in vehicle safety.
More than 60 per cent of Australian motorists don’t know the minimum legal tyre tread depth, according to Bob Jane T-Marts.
Bob Jane T-Marts Dubbo franchisee Paul Quinn said all Dubbo residents should use the week to have their tyres checked for free.
“We encourage drivers to regularly check their tyres- you’d be surprised how much of a difference healthy and frequently maintained tyres can make to your vehicle,” Mr Quinn said.
Australian Road Safety Foundation CEO Russell White said it was essential for everyone to care for their tyres and ultimately their wellbeing.
“More than half the nation continue to drive on tyres that need to be replaced and this needs to stop,” he said.
