Explosive Blues batsman Dalton Medcalf, who is also an accomplished hockey player, was carted from the field early in the second half with what looked to be a bad knee injury, and was noticably ginger when receiving his winner’s medal post-match.
It was unfortunate because up until then, Medcalf had scored a try and was among his team’s best players.
With the Dubbo cricket season starting next month, Blues skipper Keiran Brien and club officials will no doubt be keen to keep up to date with Medcalf’s recovery.
Roos coach Doug Sandry was full of praise for the young fly-half post game.
“In that first half when we were struggling, Dalton was the one who was really pushing into the line and to lose him was tough,” Sandry said.
