Hughes is one of a host of country cricketers selected to trial at Canberra’s Manuka Oval under the eye of Sydney Thunder General Manager Nick Cummins, batsman Aiden Blizzard and assistant coaches Leah Poulton and Beau Casson on September 9.
The group, who were nominated through their local associations, will be put through their paces and two players will be selected to go to Sydney in the lead up to BBL06 and WBBL02 to spend time and train with the respective Thunder squads.
“Regional NSW has long been a goldmine of cricketing talent and we look forward to seeing the next Thunder star emerge from its ranks,” Cummins said.
Hughes, who played at the under-15 National Championships last season, is one of nine female cricketers who will attend the trials.
