“I've got a son who is a serving member in the army,” the proud father said.
“We think of him all the time.”
Mr Morley bought a badge for himself and a bracelet for his daughter. They intended wearing them throughout the day.
Vietnam War veteran and former chairman of Dubbo Legacy, Greg Salmon, was manning the stall out the front of the old Dick Smith store, headquarters for the organisation during Legacy Week from August 28.
He said Legacy was still needed.
Mr Salmon said modern-day veterans were not returning “in huge numbers like we did”.
“They more or less melt into the town,” he said.
Mr Salmon said it was difficult to find the families of veterans in the event of their deaths.
“But we’re here for them and we’re getting the word out,” he said.
