Stages Three and Four of the redevelopment follows the successful completion of Stages One and Two late last year, which included six new operating theatres, day-only and extended day-only ward for surgical services, an upgraded renal dialysis unit, a refurbished main entry and upgrade infrastructure, including car parking
Member for Dubbo and Deputy Premier Troy Grant said Dubbo Hospital will be completely transformed, with these next stages delivering a contemporary and expanded surgical inpatient unit, the refurbishment of the old maternity building for the medical records department and education facilities.
“A carefully staged approach is being taken to deliver the next phase of Dubbo Hospital’s major transformation to ensure minimal disruption to patient services during the construction process,” Mr Grant said.
“The schematic design, which will be unveiled in the coming months, will show where these new services will be delivered.
Mr Grant said once the schematic design is finalised, detailed design planning and consultation will continue to determine the layout of each room and clinical space.
Ongoing consultation and planning with staff and clinicians is also being carried out to determine the schematic design for Stages Three and Four.
The next stages include:
- A new emergency department and short stay unit.
- A new medical imaging unit.
- A new ‘critical care floor’ comprising of a coronary care and stroke unit, an intensive care and high dependency unit, and a cardiac cath lab.
- A new ambulatory care centre.
- A new main entrance and drop-off zone.
- Extra car parking.
Construction on the additional floor of the new clinical services building will commence following the award of the tender.
Stages Three and Four of the Dubbo Hospital redevelopment are funded by the NSW Government.
