While the majority of people will be running this Sunday’s Dubbo Stampede for personal reward or satisfaction, the Indigenous Marathon Foundation (IMF) will be continuing its goal of leading positive change in Aboriginal communities.

The IMF uses running and the marathon to build pride, courage and self-respect, which then flows on to other aspects of life and participants from this region include Nathan Riley and Charlie Maher.
The program is having a real impact, according to IMF Director and Dubbo Stampede Patron Robert de Castella.
“The IMF provides an opportunity for young Aboriginal men and women to experience the incredible sport of the marathon and distance running,” de Castella said.
“Physical activity is really important for our health. Through supporting local leaders and ambassadors, we are helping our Indigenous communities to live healthier lifestyles.
“We’re very pleased to develop a partnership with the Stampede and the support from its participants."
