But rather than focus on losing a battle, he is turning his attention to winning the war.
Members of the industry met with the legal representatives in Sydney on Wednesday, just hours after a 14-hour parliamentary sitting ended in a 48-35 vote to ban the code from July 1, 2017.
“We’ve lost round one so we’re on to round two,” Mr Stiff said.
“We’ll meet with our legal team and see what we can do from here. I’ve spoken to a lot of shattered people but I’ve told them to stay positive and not do anything stupid.
“It was the worst 14 hours of my life in there listening to the lies that were coming from the mouths of most of the Nationals and Liberal MPs.
“I was utterly disgusted, but in saying that I was honoured to do business with Kevin Humphries, Katrina Hodgkinson and Chris Gulaptis, as well as the Labor Party members who backed the battlers and their constituents.

“Locally, in Dubbo, I think we need a strong Independent to work for the people and I’d urge Mathew Dickerson to stand up and take on the challenge at the next state election
Mr Stiff said he will do everything he can to try and overturn the ban but also admitted he holds fears for other industries.
He said anybody that works with animals should be worried.
“I would warn anybody that’s involved in an animal industry to see what the Coalition are doing to us and be ready,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s pigs, goats, sheep, horses, chickens – the Greenies will come after someone else now.
“The McHugh report that this decision is based on is flawed and they know it. It makes me wonder whether Troy Grant and Mike Baird are men or puppets for another agenda, or whether they are just Green.
“How they go home and sleep at night I don’t know, because they have destroyed thousands of peoples’ lives.”
