It is his passion for thoroughbreds however which brings him the most joy and satisfaction.
“It’s work during the day and the horses before and after,” Gorrel quipped.
On Saturday at Cowra, Gorrel and jockey Brad Clark will saddle up seven-year-old mare Liabilityadjuster in the Cardinal Kingdom F & M’s Benchmark 50 Handicap (1375m).
Liabilityadjuster was the first horse Gorrel got to train when he was fully licenced earlier this year.
She was purchased from Goulburn trainer Mark Gee and is raced by Gorrel and a group of friends from Griffith.
“When I bought her off Mark he said she probably wasn’t quite up to winning at full TAB status meetings but the secondary TAB and non-TAB meetings would suit her ideally,” Gorrel said.“He was dead right. We’re having a lot of fun with her.”
