Students from Year 9 at St John's College and the Year 6 students of St John's Primary participated in an EdBotic Challenge as part of National Science week last Monday.

Since Term 2 the students had been working closely together to program and build robotics.

St John’s Primary School Year 6 teacher Mickaela Wright said the collaboration between the two years helped build their team work, science and maths skills.

“In Term 3 students had a mentoring session and Monday everything came together,” Ms Wright said, adding she could already see future scientists.

“They’ve got amazing natural talent,” she said.

“They're working with technology so much that we were able to just give them the tools and they just ran with it.

“It was a fantastic and creative experience for everyone.”

Ms Wright said by putting the 61 Year 6 students and 20 students from Year 9 together, it allowed for them to build their own friendships.

“Now the Year 6 students will see a familiar face when they go to High School and they will also be familiar with the school surroundings,” she said.
