Dubbo Macquarie scored a 20-point win on Sunday and finished the Group 11 regular season in second place but the side still needs to be playing better, according to coach Steve McLellan.

The Raiders defeated Narromine 50-30 at Cale Oval, ending the Jets’ season in the process, but McLellan said the lapses in concentration his side continues to suffer will be punished in the finals, which start next weekend.
“We played some good footy and I was quite pleased with some of our attack, it was sharp, but the concern is the lapses and we can’t go into the semis thinking we’ll progress if we have those lapses,” he said.
“I think we just thought the game was won and we switched off and I would have been happy to keep them to 18 or 20 and that would have been easy but overall we’ve got to be happy.”
The Raiders, who will now play Nyngan in the first week of the finals, scored nine tries in Sunday’s win, with centre Kiyan Shaw scoring a double while halves Josh Merritt and Etuate Gusuivalu were instrumental.
Jets captain-coach Luke Thompson was left dejected after the match, disappointed to miss the finals after his side proved numerous times during the season they could match it with the rest of the competition.
The Jets were right in the match after half an hour when they led 12-10 but two Raiders tries saw them go into the shed 20-12 leaders and from there the men in blue never looked back.
“Very disappointing and it’s been the story of our whole year. We shoot ourselves in the foot with too many errors,” Thompson said.
“It’s disappointing not to make the finals, we haven’t made it 10 years and were working hard to get there but unfortunately that’s footy and that’s the way it goes.”
Thompson scored a double in the match and his first had his side leading early but Merritt put Wade Peachey over approaching half time and then Dylan Hill showed tremendous strength to barge over and set up a eight-point lead at the break.
The Raiders came out flying in the second half and Shaw, a jinking and stepping Merritt, and Smith all scored, with the latter's coming from a neat offload by Hill.
The Jets showed fight late with tries to DJ Gordon and Thompson adding some respectability to the scoreline but Shaw’s second saw his side reach the half century.
NSW Country under-18s player Luke Gale impressed on debut for the Raiders and was praised by his coach but McLellan saved the most words for his classy halves.
“Luke Gale on debut, I thought he was great for us and Josh Merritt and Eddie (Gusuivalu) controlled the game and when we need something they look like the players who will come up with something special and it's handy having two like that on the field,” he said.
