Wanderers led 5-1 at half-time at Bob Roach Field, but City’s Mal Willott felt his side could have been closer.
“Our first half was much better than the second, they only had a couple more shots than us in that first half,” he said. “The scoreboard didn’t show it, but we actually played well that first half.”
City’s only goal of the first half came after the siren when an Issac Darlington penalty corner drag flick found the mark.
In the second half Wanderers dominated, earning five penalty corners and scoring six more goals.
Matt Johnston finished with four goals for Wanderers, while both Adam Hurford and Connor Morris nabbed a brace.
Kyle Reardon scored a late consolation for City on the back of a quick counter-attack.
