Dubbo resident Mike Blake has been recognised for his service to the community, awarded a National Service Medal and an Australian Defence Medal in a presentation at the SES Headquarters in Dubbo on Monday.

Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton, Deputy Premier Troy Grant, SES Macquarie regional controller David Monk and SES deputy regional controller Phil Lalor were at the ceremony to present Mr Blake with his medals.
Mr Coulton said the medals were for Mr Blake’s achievements during his time with the Army Reserves and SES, and said both were very prestigious.
“The National Medal recognises long and diligent service by members of recognised government and voluntary organisations that risk their lives or safety to protect or assist the community in enforcement of the law or in times of emergency or natural disaster,” Mr Coulton said.
“The Australian Defence Medal recognises current and former Australian Defence Force personnel who completed an initial enlistment period, or four years’ service, whichever was the lesser.
“In regards to Mike, he has served as both a member of the Australian Army Reserves and the State Emergency Service which has entitled him to receive both medals presented today.
“I take this opportunity to publicly congratulate Mike on receipt of these significant medals and thank him for his ongoing commitment to helping others and more broadly his community and country.”
