The Dubbo Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Real Estate Institute of NSW Orana Division will appeal to the Administrator of the Western Plains Regional Council, Mr Michael Kneipp, and the Deputy Premier and Dubbo MP, Mr Troy Grant, to change the name.
Chamber president Matt Wright and acting chair of REI Orana Bob Berry said: “We have received a clear response from the overwhelming number of the business community that the loss of the iconic name of Dubbo in the title of the council is not acceptable.
“Dubbo is an iconic name both as a council with 166-year history and as a brand recognised throughout Australia as one of the key regional growth centres in the nation.”
