Parkes now sit all alone in second, after they scored a hard-fought win over the Narromine Jets, while the Magpies are just two points back in third, equal with Nyngan, after a 12-point win over the Tigers.
After a strong run of form in recent weeks, many had been tipping Nyngan as the team most likely to threaten frontrunners Dubbo CYMS but Forbes proved on Sunday they’re not out of the race just yet.
After back-to-back losses, the Magpies needed a win and they began well, leading the Tigers 16-10 at the break. That lead was extended in the second stanza and with 10 minutes remaining it was all but over as they led 34-14, and they held on to win 34-26.
Parkes sit on 16 after coming back from being down 18-12 at half time to win by six points over the Jets.
