The Lions, on their home turf, were able to get revenge against City for the Bathurst side’s 3-2 win earlier this season.
“We probably had just as many chances to score as they did. It was a really close game,” City’s Mal Willott said.
“Unfortunately they had about seven shots on goal and five of them went in.
“The majority of their goals would have come off short corners while our shorts were terrible.”
Lions raced out to a 2-0 lead in the early stages before Cody Sherman helped City reduce the deficit to one.
Dubbo enjoyed the stronger second half as City failed to cope with the Lions attacking pressure, unable to find a way back into the match.
