Paul Dalgleish, wife Charmaine and son Thomas, 5, visited the hospital on Friday to inspect their donation through the Humpty Dumpty Foundation of a Giraffe infant resuscitation system.
The standalone and portable equipment will be used in the event of “high-risk deliveries”.
The family wanted to buy and donate the equipment to a country hospital with the foundation finding a willing recipient at Dubbo.
A birthing trauma involving relatives and growing awareness of equipment shortfalls in rural and remote communities were among the drivers of the philanthropic act.
Mr Dalgleish, managing director and chief executive officer of RCR Limited Tomlinson, said his family wanted to “give back to the community and people, and children are very special to us”.
The family toured the hospital’s neonatal care unit where the new equipment resides.
