‘’The central west is prime for renewable energy particularly Bodangora which is one of the most advanced projects and is shovel ready. Our projects including Nyngan’s Bogan River and the Manildra Solar farm and the Flyers Creek project near Orange are moving along well. We agree there have been delays but now we are moving ahead with certainty’’
At the same time the NSW Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy Anthony Roberts launched the state’s first renewable energy map ‘ GreenPower connect’ .
“By identifying and promoting our renewable energy resource base, we are giving investors, contractors, market researchers, planners and academics the information they need to scope out opportunities to invest in our State.’’
“And, most importantly, they give the most detailed picture of average state-wide wind speed and some of the best freely-available wind data in Australia,”. Mr Roberts said.
Mr Boland is of the opinion initiatives like GreenPower connect have also restored faith in the energy market and given projects and jobs more certainty in the Central West and Western NSW.
‘’The main reason for delays with our projects has been the policy uncertainty and the lack of appetite of retailers while this is going on but that has now been restored. NSW has already got a diverse range of electricity generation sources and more stable loads so I think renewable energy as it gradually grows and forms a bigger percentage of the generation mix, the networks will accommodate it.’’,
‘’The modern generation of wind and solar and renewables will help enhance and improve the reliability of the grid and the reliability of generation sources.’’ he said.
.
“GreenPower Connect supports greater investment in new large-scale renewable energy projects by allowing large purchasers of renewable energy to directly link more cost effectively with new projects and have their purchases recognised as GreenPower accredited renewable energy,” Mr Roberts said.
