Wilson, in his rookie year as a pro on the PGA Tour, made the trip to Yeppoon with plenty of confidence after taking out the Rockhampton event with a final score of -20.
Conditions were far from perfect on the central coast of Queensland, with the players having to deal with fog right up until Sunday’s final round.
But Wilson handled the conditions the best and his final round of -5 secured him the silverware.
"It has been an incredible week, probably one of the best ball striking weeks of my career," Wilson told the official PGA website after the win.
"The fog has no doubt played its part this week, but that's all part of our game and something you need to overcome if you want to become successful."
Much of the hard work at Rockhampton was done on day one when the Dubbo talent hit a hugely impressive 66 which gave him a share of third place, and further rounds of 68, 67 and 68 saw him finish victorious.
Following the win, Wilson made the short trip up the coast and entered the $55,000 Yeppoon Classic as one of the players to watch.
He carted a steady 69, -2 under par, to start his tournament and sat in equal seventh after the first round.
Mitchell Brown shot out of the blocks with an -8 opening round to take the lead, ahead of three other players who were one shot back.
Wilson has proved multiple times already this year he is a consistent player capable of hitting the ball as well in his final round as his first and if he can recreate his Rockhampton form he will remain in the hunt.
The win at ‘Rocky’ followed other Pro-Am Tour wins at Portarlington in Victoria, Queanbeyan and the Yowani course at Canberra while his biggest win of the year came at the $120,000 Western Australia PGA Championship.
That win saw him enter the top 50 in the Australian Order of Merit, a place he still remains.
"It has been a great rookie year thus far and although there have been some steep learning curves, I am really starting to enjoy my life on Tour,” he said to www.pga.org.au.
The 2016 Yeppoon Classic concludes on Saturday.
