Petbarn Dubbo store manager Thomas Adams said World Cat Day, which is on Monday, August 8, is a fantastic way to celebrate the love and companionship that our furry friends provide us and is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of the number of cats that are without a home.
“At Petbarn we’re dedicated to ensuring every animal has a loving place to call home and World Cat Day is the perfect to time for us to raise awareness of the importance of pet adoption in saving cat lives,” he said.
“Renowned for their companionship, playful nature and self-sufficiency, cats are one of Australia’s most popular pets and can bring much joy and love.
“Easy to care for and able to be left alone in the house by themselves for several hours, cats can teach compassion while being a very independent member of the family.”
Mr Thomas Adams said since July 1st 2016 the local store has successfully adopted 34 animals
“Kittens are very popular, with one to two being adopted every day and we can have up to 9 adoptions for cats, kittens and dogs on weekends.”
If north western NSW locals do find their purrfect pairing, they will be able to go through the pet adoption process in-store on the day.
While the adoption fee set by the local charity is collected by Petbarn, 100 per cent of this fee is returned to the charity.
All cats are de-sexed, vaccinated and micro-chipped before being brought into store.
In partnership with a number of local animal charities, including RSPCA, Pets Haven and Cat Haven, over 16,091 animals across Australia have been saved from being euthanised after being adopted since the program launched.
