It is one of 25 hospitals across Australia to receive equipment because of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation’s annual fundraiser called the Good Egg Lunch.
The foundation reports that Dubbo Hospital asked and received a $1760 Rad 5 pulse oximeter and two Rad 7 pulse oximeters costing $4440 each for its neonatal care unit.
The Rad 5 hand-held pulse oximeter allows nurses to record oxygen levels accurately and efficiently and quickly track changes in arterial oxygen levels.
By shining a light through a baby’s finger or toe, the Rad 7 pulse oximeter measures the amount of oxygen in their capillaries.
“This ensures correct and safe oxygen delivery during highly-critical times in an effort to prevent damage to organs,” a foundation spokeswoman said.
About 400 people attended the lunch in Sydney hosted by the foundation’s patron Ray Martin AM.
