The Coonamble Bears had to work hard before finally coming away with a win against a determined Warren Bulldogs outfit at Warren.
The huge crowd on hand was treated to a hard fought first 40 minutes, and there was a sniff of an upset when the Bears went into the half time break with only a slender 14-10 lead.
As is their tendency, the Bears came out of hibernation after half time and shot out to a 26-10 lead but the Dogs weren’t going to lay down and got the score back to 30-22 at one stage.
However it was to be the Grizzlies who finished off all matters relevant to the scoreboard attendant and they drew away during the final minutes of the game to register yet another impressive victory, 48 to 22.
At Gulgong, the second placed Terriers had their game against the Trangie Magpies sown up in the first half as they went into the sheds leading 30-8. While the second half was not as one-sided they still managed to go on and win comfortably 46-12.
The Coonabarabran Unicorns took a step closer to claiming a semi-final berth when they downed a determined Coolah Kangaroos team 44-28. Kangaroo supporters again would have been well pleased as the team proved that they are capable, but just can’t go the distance
In the remaining game, Gilgandra proved to be too strong for the visiting Baradine Magpies.
