‘’Elaine Pickford is the ethos of what Red Cross is all about serving the community.’’ Mrs Hutchinson said.
Mrs Pickford who now lives in Orange joined Red Cross as a junior member in Yeoval and has been with the organisation ever since.
‘’My whole family has been involved in Red Cross.
“I began as a senior member at Yeoval in 1956 and joined Wellington when I moved there in 1993’’
‘’Red Cross has been very special to me and its hard to believe this has happened.
“I began in the 1940’s working to help’’ Mrs Pickford said.
She was awarded the gilt rozette by Mrs Hutchinson for her service.
Mrs Hutchison said the regional conference in Dubbo would discuss issues such as the drought in Queensland , how some branches were thinking outside the circle and the power of humanity.
