While Mudgee and Parkes were being thumped in their respective matches, the Rhinos were outclassed but certainly not out-enthused as they battled one of the Blowes Clothing Cup’s premier teams.
The visitors started the match in strong fashion, scoring three unanswered tries as they took a 17-0 lead into the sheds.
But, to their credit, the Rhinos showed guts and determination to cross for one of their own early in the second stanza and cut the margin back to just 12 points.
Both teams had opportunities but ultimately it was the second-placed Platypi who were able to capitalise.
They crossed a further four times to claim a 36-point win and a bonus point, which keeps them in second place and just four points behind competition leaders Orange Emus.
In second grade, the Rhinos scored a gallant 29-15 victory over the visitors.
