Despite being selected almost three weeks ago, McCutcheon said the Olympic feeling hadn’t sunk in just yet.
“I think it will sink in when we get over there, it still feels a long way away,” he said.
McCutcheon said the team are pleased they have over a week to get used to the conditions in Rio and get in some last minute training.
“Our competition starts on day four so we have a good 10 days beforehand to adjust to the conditions and climate,” he said.
The experienced rugby player is delighted to be a part of the Australian national team.
“The Olympics are such a prestige event, so to be a part of the Australian team and be in the village, I believe it will be awesome,” he said.
The Australian Sevens have three fixtures in Rio, they will play France, Spain and South Africa over August 10 and 11.
