The club is set to mark its 50th season with a reunion of past and present members and a touch of nostalgia.
It’s set to roll out the original tiger colours its teams first wore on to the ground in 1967.
The club has planned a function on Saturday night where there will be an auction of the commemorative jerseys - and lots of opportunities to reminisce about golden moments.
Club president Jason Johnson said the special jersey had been organised for the under-16s in 1967’s old tiger colours.
“Yeah, we got that together and so hopefully if the rain holds off we’ll play in them,” he said.
“And then we’re having a function on Saturday night and they’re going to be auctioned off on that night for anyone who wants to buy them.”
Johnson has been involved with South Dubbo, a foundation club, since 2006.
This season 170 kids wear its blue jersey and Johnson says the club’s strength has been its kids and parents.
“I think it’s the culture, it’s a good family club and good kids,” he said.
“They all love the game, even in the rain, they all want to play.
“It will be a special night, we hope we can get the people there.”
Dubbo and District Junior League president Neil Millgate has been associated with the club for 18 years.
“A lot of kids have come through, some outstanding kids who have gone on to bigger and better things, which we’re looking to do,” he said.
Some of the club’s earlier players had brought their children to the club, and it was good to see the different generations, Millgate said.
The rugby league stalwart has seen plenty of changes.
Years ago the canteen was a caravan towed in, but now they had the luxury of a clubhouse with modern technology.
“That’s probably one of the best changes,” Millgate said.
Millgate gathered with club members on Wednesday and said he was looking forward to the weekend.
“There will be old photos and old faces, and it will be good to see the kids grown up,” he said.
Prop Kobe Johnson is ready for his match with the under-12s team on the weekend.
He’s played seven seasons and said the highlight was being part of the under-10s team that won the grand final in 2014.
The reunion function will be held on Saturday night at the Dubbo Harness Racing Club grandstand at the Dubbo Showground.
Tickets will be available at the door for $25, which includes a light meal, and drinks can be purchased at the bar.
