Police and paramedics were called to Marco Avenue in Panania about 6pm on Monday, to reports that up to 15 people had been involved in a fight outside a convenience store.

A man had been stabbed in the fight and was bleeding heavily, witnesses said.

It's understood officers arrived to find the injured 18-year-old man, Adam Abu-Mahmoud, with a knife still lodged in his back.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to Liverpool Hospital, where he died from his injuries a short time later.

On Monday night, detectives arrested three males, aged 17, 18 and 20, and charged them each with one count of murder.

The two older men were refused police bail and are due to appear in Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old also was refused bail and is due to appear in Parramatta Children's Court on Tuesday.

Homicide squad detectives and officers from the Bankstown Local Area Command set up a large crime scene at three different locations across Panania on Monday night. One of those locations was outside the convenience store, not far from Panania train station.

Forensic officers on Tuesday morning were also continuing to examine a nearby home, including the driveway and a ute parked out the front.
