The Evocities series began with great success last year and two legs of the 2016 competition have already been completed.
The Dubbo race, again to be held at Geurie, will be staged on September 25 but things have ramped up recently with Boost Juice jumping on board as major sponsor while work has been continuing on the track.
“The other clubs have started and there’s two more before us so momentum is starting to build,” Dubbo MTB president Craig Arms said.
“It’s just getting the track ship-shape now and ready to go. We’ve had a bit of a wet winter and it always has a bit of an impact so we’ve just got to do a bit of tidying up but really it’s held up well.”
More than 100 competitors are expected to take part this year and one thing in the local club's favour is the fact the Geurie race will be held later in the year this time out.
Last year it was in the middle of winter which made for a particularly cold morning but this time out it will be in spring which should ensure the track will be of even better quality.
All of the sports big names are expected to be in action locally again this year after world champion Jason English edged out Shaun Lewis and Arms is hopeful their involvement will further boost the popularity of the sport.
“The whole idea was to promote Evocities and mountain biking in those regional cities so we’re really pleased the interest remains and it keeps growing a little bit,” he said,
Arms also take some time to praise Boost and other event sponsors.
“As a small club we don’t have a whole heap of money so organising big races like this costs us a lot of money so support form Boost and others has been fantastic this year and we really support it,” he said.
The next two races will be held at Tamworth on August 7 and Wagga on September 9 before the series heads to Geurie.
