Stop/slow traffic control is in place at the scene of a truck fire that earlier blocked vehicles heading in both directions:
8:33pm: Motorists are being advised to avoid the Newell Highway north of Gilgandra
The busy highway is closed in both directions approximately 10 kilometres north of of the town, due to a truck fire.
The Daily Liberal will update the situation as information comes to hand.
Emergency services are at the scene, and traffic crews are also responding to the incident.
