The funding was announced on Wednesday by Deputy Premier and Dubbo MP Troy Grant, who said the benefits would flow on to Narromine Shire residents.
“I am pleased to announce that Narromine Shire Council has been awarded $75,000 for a complete virtual upgrade of the council’s IT system,” Mr Grant said.
“The project will mean ratepayers can soon expect a greater level of efficiency and transparency from their local council, with any savings generated passed on to the community.”
The $4 million fund aims to support small regional and rural councils with populations of less than 10,000 people to deliver better services and infrastructure in an innovative way.
Mr Grant said $2 million was available in round one of the scheme, which has so far funded 13 projects across more than 20 communities.
“Small regional and rural communities face unique issues and challenges and the Innovation Fund recognises that one size does not fit all NSW councils,” Mr Grant said.
“The Innovation Fund further demonstrates the NSW Government’s commitment to support rural and regional councils, helping them provide the services and infrastructure that their local communities need.”
