After showing promise in last week’s loss to Orange, Dubbo travelled to Bathurst in good spirits but a 9-0 thrashing in the girls hockey gave the hosts the upper hand.
Dubbo’s chances have been boosted by the fact day two will be played at Dubbo after all of the proposed outdoor venues at Bathurst were closed by council after the recent poor weather.
At short notice, Dubbo came to the party and said they were happy to host day two of the tie, which will feature rugby league, and boys and girls soccer.
The athletics looks set to be a 50-50 draw given than the Dubbo venue is already booked for a separate event.
As well as struggling in the hockey, Dubbo also lost the tennis 11 sets to one but they once again fired in netball and basketball, winning 62-28 and 50-42 respectively.
Orange High have already won the Cup after winning both their ties.
