Parkes opened the scoring after three minutes with lock Anthony Redfern skirting to the left. Gaps were already opening up in the Cowboys’ defence.
The Spacemen took only eight minutes to go over again, fullback Alex Prout slipping through and the home side led 12-0.
Wellington pressured but Parkes were finding spaces in the middle of the ruck and led 16-0 when fullback Sam Dwyer went on the outside off a super pass.
Wellington scored before the break with forward Jordan Stanley getting across on a bunched left edge and it was 16-6 at half-time.
The second half tightened up and defence became a premium in cold temperatures.
It took Parkes 20 minutes to break away and Dwyer stepped onto the left to easily beat defenders.
In the 75th minute Ethan McKeller raced over on the right for Cameron Standen to convert.
Then just before full time the Spacemen were in again as replacement Epi Sadrodo stepped wonderfully to outpace the defence and in the end Parkes were too good 32-6.
In the under 18’s the undefeated Wellington Cowboys had a major scare downing Parkes 26-16 after trailing for large sections of the game.
Reserve grade was easy for the Spacemen 48-22 and the women’s tag league match went to Parkes 28-10.
The win ensured Parkes retained second place on the competition ladder.
In other Group 11 action, the Nyngan Tigers scored a fairly comfortable 40-24 win over the Narromine Jets at Nyngan.
The Tigers scored first but the teams traded tries before a couple of late first half four-pointers gave the home side a 22-12 half-time lead.
They kept a comfortable buffer to win by 16 points.
It capped a good weekend for Nyngan, as they picked up wins in all four grades.
