On Thursday and Friday the organisation made their maiden trips to St Mary’s School, spreading the message of ear health to students.
The community group, run by volunteers, has been at the forefront of spreading the message by taking it into schools across the city, and the visit to St Mary’s was the start of a busy week.
From Monday to Wednesday, 26 medical students participating in the project will be able to see all parts of it including ear health education, visits to the Ear Nose Throat specialist (ENT), and assessment with children suffering from hearing loss.
The students will participate in groups that will allow them to experience hearing screening in a school setting and in a formal setting.
Among other things there will also be a session with parents and children to hear their story with hearing loss, and a teacher-staff education session after school with directors Donna Rees and Rachael Mills.
